STST Word Club | The Fair Organ

We are delighted to welcome The Fair Organ to STST Word Club this November to read and exhibit works in progress from their current project ‘The Merry Golden Tree’. They will be joined by the poets Imogen Cassels, Dom Hale (with Tom Crompton, in absentia) and Leonie Rushforth.

‘The people took sails in their aprons

chips for their ovens

milk meetings

grease suits

blast back cuttings with hoses

and when you look them in the eyes

you see grey eyes

asking will I be fulfilled.’

From The English, a draft poem by Edwina Attlee

The Fair Organ | @thefairorgan

The Fair Organ is a publishing collective currently comprising Matilda Agace, Edwina Attlee, Grace Connolly Linden, Rey Conquer, Aisha Farr, Hugh Foley, Angela Shackel, John Stephens and George Townsend.

‘The Merry Golden Tree’ is the third in a series exploring the emotional, political and social landscapes of particular folk songs through text, performance and visual art. Our work on the song looks at sabotage, low technology, solidarity, Englishness and unending catastrophe.

We’re excited to share this new work with the Word Club audience. We’ll be looking for feedback and participation from you!
