Staffordshire St's Word Club: IN HOUSE is an open studios, but for writers and readers. Expect an intimate insight into the world of writers as readers share works-in-progress and snippets of their writing practices, inviting the audience in house. A night for thinking, listening and discussing the pithy world of words and writing.

Alice Hattrick | @alicehattrick
Alice (they/them) is a writer and lecturer based in London. They are the author of two books of creative non-fiction published by Fitzcarraldo Editions: Ill Feelings (2021), which examines chronic illness, intimacy and mother–daughter relationships, and Fancy Work (June 2026), which reclaims queer embroidery as a form of thinking, living and resisting.
Alice has published criticism and essays in publications including Art Review, Frieze, Granta, The White Review and TANK, and contributes writing for exhibitions and artists internationally. They are a Lecturer in Fashion Communication at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London.

Flora Elmi Beagley is a writer based in London. She won the 2025 Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize for poetry, was shortlisted for the London Magazine 2026 Poetry Prize and has been longlisted for the National Poetry Society competition. Her work explores intimate histories, Anglo-Finnish heritage and interwoven linguistics. She has work featured or upcoming in Wasafiri, The Kenyon Review, Boulevard, The Belfast Review and West Trade Review. Her work The Thaw is out now with Skear Zines.

Joe Conroy (b. 2002) is a writer from Liverpool. In Out, his debut novel, is set for publication in October 2026.
Sufiyaan Salam | @sufiyaansalam
Sufiyaan Salam is a writer and former animator from Blackburn. He’s working on several TV & feature projects, and co-wrote the short film MAGID / ZAFAR, which recently won a BIFA and was nominated for a BAFTA for Best British Short Film. Wimmy Road Boyz, winner of the #Merky Books New Writers’ prize, is his first novel. Sufiyaan was named as one of The Observer's Best Debut Novelists for 2026 and has been called 'a standard bearer for a new generation of literary novelists' by The Guardian.
